What did you do today?

The news just hit that Osama Bin Laden is dead, and that the US has custody of his body. All I can think of  is all of the people talking about where they were when they heard the news. It will follow in the footsteps, of "Where were you on 9/11" as they will go down in history as the stories that we pass on to our children. I can't help but to think that in a time of $4.15 gas, and the Natural Disasters that have been happening lately, that we have nothing upbeat to tell the children. Something positive to pass on. Is there nothing for children to look forward to besides the next big interactive game?

Take a minute and think of something positive that you would like to pass on, that your children can say "Hey, my mom said she was alive when....."

So upset!

I've been making a blanket for a friend whose baby shower is next weekend, just saw the stroller and there's blue and green mixed in with the grey! I don't have anywhere near enough time to adjust it....I'm so sad about this!

I'll just chalk it up to poetic license

So excited to plan for my Girl Scout Etiquette party. I did a little research on the subject of Etiquette and printed up some sheets to make booklets for the girls.

I found information on Public Etiquette, basically how to act on public transportation: Giving up a seat for the elderly or handicapped; not having loud conversations with a friend or gossiping on the phone; keeping your belonging and your body in one seat. Basically, just information I want them to have for our trip into Manhattan

Table Etiquette Rules which included how to sit at a table, how to eat at a table, and how to converse at a table. Here's hoping in sinks in.

The girls also learned how to set a table and after discussion, raced to see who could set the place from memory the fastest. This was easily the best event of the evening.

And finally a list of "Additional Tips" which are just basic everyday rules; Writing a Thank You note, Walking to the right, RSVP-ing rules

Originally I thought I'd use colored index cards to get the girls in separate groups, but then decided to head to Kinkos and make different color covers for each group.

Inside cover

Outside Cover

Well, guess what? I have no idea where my stapler is, so I had to resort to SEWING the pages together...Luckily, it's just a straight stitch down the side.

They ended up looking great! Everyone commented on the sewn edge and It was all a last minute fix!

The evening went well minus two things:

1) I over-estimated and only needed 30 booklets...and
2) it's 2011...*sigh*

New Cutter

In the past 3 months, I have fallen in LOVE with cookie cutters! So much so that my collection has gone from 3 cookie cutters ( A gingerbread man, a heart, and a leaf) to ridiculous collections! I have the alphabet, numbers, an 18 piece holiday set, a valentines day set, and just yesterday finally bought that butterfly I have been eyeing

I have a girl scout party coming later this week and have been looking everywhere for this. I finally found it at AC Moore for 99 cents, while I was looking for the 69 cent one. I originally fell in love with this:

lorisplace cookies about $25 for 12

....that I found on esty ( shocking!) months ago, and I want my cookies to be this sexy!

So this morning I will be baking

keep your fingers crossed

Juana

And just to go with the theme of 'cleaning out the camera'...This is one of my girl scouts who NEVER takes a bad picture. Absolutely gorgeous girl. I'm glad to be her leader and I wish her all the best that life has to offer <3

Pics with the boys

I have a friend with the most adorably photogenic little boys! I decided they they would be the perfect subjects for some winter pictures...but as fate would have it most of the snow had melted and it was really too warm for coats, so my dreams of hats and mittens and snowballs in and diminished as we put on our matching sweatshirts and walked down the block..

The boys really are very sweet with each other, a great pair of boys...so much so that I often take them out with me. Partly because everyone tell me how cute they are, and partly because I know I'll get some great pics. Please ignore the street signs I could have sworn I erased.  :(

Take a few minutes to enjoy the following shots. These pics are for mom as she wants a chance to document the boys relationship together before little sis is born in a few weeks (10 or so?)

So handsome at age 12

Already a ladies man at 4.

Baby Hat

I just finished making this baby hat for my soon-to-start newborn photography sessions...All of these pregnant friends will be helping me to start a business.....and they'll get great free pictures of their baby! It's a win/win situation!

I may look into switching out the sheer ribbon for a satin faced one...I just had the sheer on hand.
