Crocheting again....

taken with  my new camera!
Another baby, another blanket. I find myself so behind on this.....

My friend, who is 25 weeks along has a stubborn baby that has refused to turn for a nice gender shot.

I'm making this seafoam and green blanket with sage border, and have maybe 5 sets of colors remaining...

Everyone loves the colors to this blanket, I wonder where it will end up because the baby turned yesterday and it's a girl...*sigh*

I got a new camera....

I have a new camera and I love it! It came in andy last night when I wanted to take pictures but my disk was in the photo printer.....child-photograher to the rescue! So far only one child has held this camera and her pictures are fabulous!

There was a great sale at the Olympus store which just so happened to be conveniently located up the road from my house, and while I didn't need another camera, I so wanted one!

So Happy holidays to me!

Blanketing...

Sorry it's been so long.... I have a recent addition to my craft pile..A blanket for a friend who's having a baby girl. crocheted with a BIG hook in one week. Cold months are the best to crochet in...these blankets get HOT!

Nothing too extreme, just my basic zigzag as if I didn't have enough time.....I need to work on my time management.

Autumn days excerpt...

Autumn days....coming soon. I hope

The next day, Autumn sat outside once again, keeping her grandmother company as she worked on the fall flowers that lined the driveway. Her job was to pick up the clippings once all of the dead leaves had been cleared away. As she waited, she saw Scooter made a repeat performance of his escape from the house across the street.
“Hey Grandma,” Autumn called from the steps “I think that cat still lives across the street”
Her Grandmother made a questioning “Hunh?” sound as she twisted around to look behind her at the abandoned house. She caught a glimpse of the orange tail as his body disappeared into the grasses.
“Scooter?” she asked “Mrs Lewis left him behind? I can’t imagine that was easy. Miserable as that cat is, he was her baby. Raised him from a tiny kitten, you know? He was too small to be separated from his own mother when she found him.” She looked back at Autumn “The only person I ever saw that cat be nice to was Mrs Lewis.”
She nodded to herself “That cat was her baby” she repeated and looked up to Autumn where she sat perched on the top step. “You want to bring him a little something to eat, maybe some of the leftover chicken we had for dinner last night?”
Autumn sat frozen on the top. She had never seen her grandmother being friendly to any animal, let alone a dirty, mean, left-behind cat.
“You’re sure, Grandma?” Autumn questioned, just to make sure she hadn’t imagined the conversation
“I said to, didn’t I?” was her Grandmothers response.
Autumn rushed into the house before she changed her mind.

A Mantra

Sometimes things are often easier said than done..I am writing this here as a reminder.

Don't allow someone to treat you in a way that you know in your heart is neither appropriate or fair.
Stand up for yourself, and let it be known that the rules have changed.
 *DEMAND RESPECT*
If you keep doing things like you've always done them, what you'll get is what you've already got.

Knitting again

I am currently working on a blanket....well a panel for a blanket. i am just about the crappiest knitter I know and choose to knit 1 row, purl 1 row...pretty basic stuff. The only pluses I have are my allegedly even stitches and color combos (or so I've been told). I am currently trying to mix colors for a friends living room...that's just what I tell myself because in reality, I'm trying to deplete the ridiculous yarn stash that has decided to populate a large section of my living space.

Panel number 1
So, here it is, it's my friend while I watch TV, which means we spend a lot of time together. It actually travels from a buttery yellow to yellow to a soft white to a light tan to tan and the cycle will repeat...I plan (or, it's my intention) to start the next panel with either white or tan and switch up the number of rows....all life is a work in process, this is just one of them

Cookie attempt

Oops, I did it again.....

Still trying to make something I've seen, here is my attempt at cookie decorating. My goal, to have decorated cookies at my little Stinky's 4th birthday at the end of the year.

I found applicator bottles at The Christmas Tree Shops which is having it's friends and family even right now (through the weekend) 20% off your total purchase. Check it out here.

I bought $10 cookie cutters; the letter, number, symbol package; the applicators, and was all set to go!

Here are my sad cookies:
